Instruction I-Individualization/

Management

The purpose of this course is to provide integrated theories of learning and teaching through practicum experiences at local middle schools.   Teacher candidates will learn to be responsive to the individual needs of all learners in their classroom.  This course provides a basic understanding of the nature of middle school learners including students with educational disabilities, those who are gifted and talented, and students from culturally, ethnically, economically, and linguistically diverse backgrounds.  Teacher candidates will be taught how to adapt instruction, create inclusive classroom learning environments, and teach in a culturally responsive manner to reach all students.

Throughout the semester, I documented my learning experiences and case studies in the form of a teacher work sample, included below. Included in my teacher work sample are a Setting and context describing the school I was placed at for my practicuum, a topic and rationale, case study interviews with two students, the begining and final versions of my fully aligned lesson plan, a narrative reflection, and field notes I wrote based on techniques found in the book Teach Like a Champion.
