Instruction II-Standards and Assessment

 

 

 

 

     In Education 450, Instruction II-Standards and Assessment, we focus on theory, research, and practice of standards-based instruction; including assessment, literacy, and technology. This course included a very valuable seminar with two professionals from Fort Collins High School (one a product of CSU's Education Program herself) and a student teaching portion in two classes at Fort Collins High School.

     Through this course I was able to learn more and enhance my ability to organize, plan, and execute lessons. I observed and incorporated a variety of strategies to involve student learning, instructional methods to promote thinking, inquiry, and reflection, and interdisciplinary learning approaches.

     With the role models of both my seminar instructors as well as my match up teacher I witnessed how to demonstrate classroom practices that help students become self-directed, independent learners, how to encourage cooperative learning, how to foster respectful interactions, and encourage student resposibility and success.

 

     I learned a great deal about ways to asses student learning, and also progress towards life as a professional teacher.
